The Longest Ride, Nicholas Sparks

A classic Nicholas Sparks novel. Though it didn’t bring me to tears just like his other books did, it still has the taste and the flavor that only Nicholas Sparks can blend in order to create a romantic literary masterpiece!

What amazes me about Nicholas Sparks’ novels is the ability of the characters to think logically despite of being deeply and madly in love. I know it’s fiction and everything’s possible. Maybe I was just hoping I could get a brain as logical as Sophia even when I am drowning in love! 😂 But then, of course, there’s the help of her friend and roommate Marcia. As in like all other love stories out there, girl best friends seem to have the most significant role of all, aside from the main characters. Not only do they help the heroine find a perfect solution to her love problem, but they also add a funny twist to the story. I just can’t imagine myself having a smart friend like Marcia who ended up dating Sophia’s creepy ex-boyfriend. Not that I don’t have smart friends, but I am hoping that none of them would date my ex, (but not that I mind since I’m over them!😅).

The ending of the story was quite predictable, and maybe that’s the case with me because I’ve read all of Nicholas Sparks’ books and I pretty much am used to the way he maneuvers the events. The result of the painting auction has been told to me before in a different detail but in the same essence. Ira Levinson’s decision is quite admirable, and if I were Luke, I wouldn’t believe my luck even if it’s right before my eyes just when I needed it.

I imagine myself reading this book in a cozy log cabin, as I sit on the rug by the fireplace with a cup of coffee (though the possibility of a fireplace is zero in a tropic country!). It’s a perfect holiday treat, maybe Christmas or Thanksgiving, or maybe just a lazy Sunday afternoon or an afternoon by the beach. And if there is one thing that this book has made me curious about, it’s horseback riding.
