The holidays have made me busy but it didn’t stop me from grabbing books so I could curl up and read. I was at a friend’s house the other day and she lent me a few books to read.
Now, Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares is your book of the season – it made me remember that classic romantic movie Serendipity with its mittens and coats and snow and the Christmassy feel. I have to keep reminding myself though, that I am actually reading a young adult book and not some sort of a hardcore romance novel. Why? Because the thoughts and choices of words of the main characters, Dash and Lily are like those of Harvard scholars, as opposed to the regular thought of regular teenagers.
Okay… maybe they are not just your average teenagers. But still…
I am fascinated by the story’s plot. It’s quite catchy and unique. It’s like a big puzzle that they both have to look for clues all over in order to be able to get to each other. I was kind of excited for the next clue and the next adventure of the party who would have to look for the red Moleskine notebook. In fact, I am tempted to do just that sometime in the near future just to see if there’s someone out there for me who will be up for the dare!
It was just kinda sad that Dash’s and Lily’s parents were not with them during the holiday when families should be bonding together. Albeit their capability to handle themselves well in the absence of parental supervision, I felt a bit sad for them. Still, according to the story, they seemed to have a great time. And I should say that this is a book that you’d surely enjoy during Christmas vacation.
